PROBLEMS — OVERHEATING
Car overheating?
If your temperature gauge rises or a coolant warning appears, pull over safely and switch off. Continuing to drive can cause severe engine damage.
Never open a hot coolant cap.
Common causes

Coolant leak
Hoses, radiator, water pump or intercooler-related leaks.

Cooling fan failure
Especially noticeable in slow Singapore traffic.

Thermostat or water pump
Coolant not circulating properly.

Head gasket
Confirmed only with pressure and combustion testing — not assumed.
Questions owners ask
- Does coolant in the oil mean an engine overhaul?
- Not always. In one of our case files, a suspected overhaul turned out to be an intercooler and pipe leak.
